Kristin Hull, Ph.D.

Kristin is the Founder and Director of Investments at Nia Community Investments. Kristin grew up attending school in Oakland and has been actively involved in, and devoted to, education for social justice in several Oakland communities. She is both an educator and a finance person, having grown up in a family trading business. She began her career as a bilingual educator and later co-founded the North Oakland Community Charter School, all while actively involved at Hull Trading.

Interested in innovative solutions for social change, Kristin entered the field of impact investing while serving as a board member for various non-profit organizations, including the Mosaic Project and The Nicholson Foundation.

 

After the sale of her family’s business, she headed up the newly formed foundation, overseeing the 100% alignment of their foundation assets with the foundation mission. She went on to create Nia Global Solutions, an innovative stock portfolio bringing impact investing offerings to Public Markets. 

 

With Nia Global Solutions, Kristin invests along the six Nia solutions themes. weaving a gender lens throughout the portfolio. The Nia team is working to change the face of finance, by hiring and training women in sustainable investing. Kristin is also a co-founder of Impact Hub Oakland and served on the founding board of the George Mark Children’s House. She serves on several non-profit boards and as an advisor to several social enterprises.
